The Howard County House Delegation of the General Assembly, chaired by Delegate Shane Pendergrass, completed a productive year in Annapolis, thanks to the hard work and cooperative efforts of all the delegation members, as well as the Howard County Council and Executive.

EDUCATION

School Construction/Capital Project -- Howard County will receive just under $167 million in State educational aid for K-12. The county will also receive approximately $18 million for school construction and renovation projects. Over the past 12 years of our tenure in the legislature, the delegation has received from the State more than $159 million in school construction funding.

Howard Community College -- This year Howard Community College’s Operating Budget increased by slightly more than $800,000 over the FY 2006, for a total of almost 10 million in FY 2007 via direct grants. The Capital Budget provides almost $5 million for the “A” building and Smith Theater renovation and over $1 million for the construction of the new Student Services Building.  The Capital Budget also provides $400,000 for the Howard Community College Athletic Field and $100,000 for Howard Community College North Laurel Regional Higher Education Center.

CAPITAL BUDGET

Howard County General Hospital --Howard County General Hospital will receive $325,000 for the planning, design, renovation and capital equipping of the Behavior Emergency Unit.

General - The Capital Budget includes $450,000 for the Grassroots Crisis Intervention Center, $300,000 for planning, design and construction for the North Laurel Community Center and $150,000 for the Living Farm Heritage Museum.
